OAKLAND, CA — Today, California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) released the following statement in response to Chevron, Valero and Marathon spending $1.4 million through their PAC to defeat climate champions, including Jackie Elward.
EnviroVoters has endorsed Elward, who is the sole candidate to sign the no fossil fuel money pledge, for Senate District 3.
Statement from Veda Banerjee, Communications Director, California Environmental Voters:
“Big Oil is deploying its deep pockets, pouring $1.4 million to thwart the campaigns of several EnviroVoters-endorsed candidates, notably Jackie Elward. As the sole candidate in her race who has taken the principled stance to sign the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge, Elward demonstrates her unwavering commitment to frontline communities. Her dedication to combating corporate influence remains resolute. We stand behind Jackie Elward and other climate champions who refuse to be swayed by the oil industry’s attempts to undermine progress.”

ABOUT CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL VOTERS
California Environmental Voters (formerly the California League of Conservation Voters) believes the climate crisis is here and this moment requires transformative change. California has the policy solutions to stop climate change but lacks the political will to do it at the rate and scale that’s necessary. EnviroVoters exists to build the political power to solve the climate crisis, advance justice, and create a roadmap for global action. We organize voters, elect and train candidates, and hold lawmakers accountable for bold policy change. We won’t stop until we have resilient, healthy, thriving communities, and a democracy and economy that is just and sustainable for all.
